Australia's First Nations have been here for time immemorial, maintaining connections to culture and Country. Archaeological sites and cultural landscapes provide physical evidence of this long-term and ongoing presence.
We offer a range of cultural heritage services to satisfy the requirements of both First Peoples - State Relations (VIC) and Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania, including:
All of our work in Victoria is completed in accordance with the requirements of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (VIC) and Aboriginal Heritage Regulations 2018 (VIC), as well as in cooperation with the relevant Registered Aboriginal Parties (RAP).
In lutruwita/Tasmania, our work is completed in accordance with the requirements of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1975 (TAS) and Aboriginal Heritage Tasmania's (2023) Aboriginal Heritage Standards and Procedures. All work is completed in partnership with an approved Aboriginal Heritage Officer, who leads Aboriginal community consultation and the assessment of cultural heritage significance. We work alongside the Aboriginal Heritage Officer during heritage survey and while developing heritage management recommendations.
Latitude Heritage acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands in which we work, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung in Naarm/Melbourne, VIC and the palawa/pakana in Lutruwita/Tasmania. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, extending these respects to all First Nations groups whose land and waters on which we work. We recognise their continued connection to Country and acknowledge that they never ceded sovereignty.
